As an empathic and interactive counselor, I work together with my clients to identify the changes they would like to see in their lives and set both short and long-term goals to help achieve them. I integrate therapeutic techniques from different approaches, primarily, Cognitive-Behavioral, Strength-Based, and Person-Centered. By drawing from a range of therapeutic methods I am able to meet the individual needs of my clients by finding the most effective approach for our work together. I have great respect for your ability to discern your own path, solutions, and direction in life, and my goal is to help you restore your resilience and use your strengths to navigate through difficult times. I welcome you in taking this courageous journey and it is such a privilege to be a part of it.
Area of Specialization
I specialize in working with cancer caregivers and cancer survivors. The stress felt by caregivers can interfere with their ability to provide the emotional or logistical support patients need. Survivors face the difficult transition into "the new normal" and understand all too well that the effects of cancer do not end when treatment does. My work with caregivers and survivors addresses the emotional side of a cancer diagnosis and focuses on the importance of self-care, advocacy, and resilience.
I am honored to work with Cancer Lifeline as a support group facilitator for the caregivers of individuals with cancer. In addition to support groups, I offer presentations to caregivers, patients, and survivors of cancer.
I received my BA of Fine Art from Cornish College of the Arts and my MA of Education in Community Counseling from Seattle University. I am currently a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate in Washington State, under the supervision of Eve McCarthy, LMHC. I am also a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) through the National Board for Certified Counselors. For the past eight years, I’ve worked in a variety of mental health settings. My experience includes individual and couples therapy, case management, group therapy, and milieu therapy as a volunteer with The Emerald House at Sound Mental Health.
